The composition of these materials consists of silica, ceria, and other metal oxides. For example, I worked extensively in synthesizing silica nanomaterials for chemical mechanical planarization (CMP), as well as develop templating systems for the synthesis of hollow silica. I am also experienced in organic and inorganic surface modifications. For example, I employed organosilanes to modify the chemistry of nanoparticles (methacrylate modification for UV crosslinking applications, vinly/phenyl modifications for hydrophobic-based applications etc...). In addition to surface modifications, I also used organosilanes to investigate their effects on semiconductor wet-etching processes. This work was successful in producing data for a patent, as well as, creating a commercial produt for the use in selective etching. In terms of analytical skills, I am proficient in Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopy (SEM/TEM), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Gas Adsorption (GA), Gas Chromatography (GC), Small-angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS). I am also experienced in large-scale synthesis (1L-100L) and have worked with a pilot plant to produce commercial-scale products.
