Mr. Holden has led development of large-scale coal, hydro, gas, wind, cogeneration, district energy and solar power assets in several de-regulated markets since the late 1980s. He is currently the Managing Director of Lodestone Energy Limited and owner/director of private investment entity Magnetite Energy Investments Limited. Lodestone is a privately-held, renewable energy company focussed on building and operating utility-scale solar generation projects in New Zealand. Magnetite is the largest shareholder of Lodestone Energy. His most recent role prior to Lodestone was CEO of the Pulse Energy Alliance LP a privately held energy retailing company operating throughout New Zealand. Pulse sells retail electricity, gas, broadband and petrol to small commercial and residential customers throughout NZ. Pulse operates through a number of retail brands including GreyPower Electricity, Pulse Energy and Just Energy, to name a few. In the 1990s, Gary was privileged to part of the evolution of the energy sector in New Zealand and was part of the Wholesale Market Development Group (WEMGD) during his tenure as CEO of TransAlta New Zealand Limited. This was a period of looking at the fundamentals of the industry and of amalgamation across the sector. At a governance level in New Zealand he is a former Board Member of the Wellington Power Company, Capital Power and Lower Hutt Energy Company, Energy Direct. He was also the founding chair of the Taranaki Combined Cycle Power Company (a joint venture between TransAlta NZ, Fletcher Challenge and Mercury Energy). He is married to Patricia and they have five children.
