Gary Counts Email & Phone Number | GARY COUNTS Mr. Counts serves as Test and Interoperability Lead Engineer for the Common System Integration (CSI) Product Office within the Army Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Program Office. Previous to this assignment he was the Chief for Requirements, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), Missile Defense Agency (MDA). In this role he was responsible for baselining current anti-ballistic missile capabilities to shoot down short, medium, and intermediate range ballistic missiles in their terminal phase using a hit-to-kill approach. As a leader in Systems Engineering he provides management oversight for planning, directing, executing, and controlling the work and associated resources involved in managing the life cycle of Army Program Management Offices (PMOs). Other previous assignments include serving as Source Selection Board Chair for Air Warrior, Analysis Division Supervisor for Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), Computer Engineer for System of Systems (SoS), and Radar Electronics Engineer for Advanced Sensors. Mr. Counts was born in Decatur, Alabama and grew up working on the family farm until he entered the Armed Forces. He was awarded the Navy Expeditionary Medal while serving with Multinational Peacekeeping forces Beirut Lebanon on board the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN-69. He graduated from The University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Master of Science Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1996. He also completed Cooperative Education (co-op) requirements at Redstone Arsenal which culminated in his Army Engineering Internship. Mr. Counts is Acquisition Level 3 Certified in Test and Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering. A member of the Army Acquisition Corps since 2004, his awards include 2 LTR/CERT of Commendation, an Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration Award, and numerous Performance and Special Act Awards.
