Gargi Naha Email & Phone Number | As a UKRI ESRC Wales DTP scholar with a background in clinical medicine (MBBS) and an Msc in Global Health and Public Policy, I am deeply passionate about finding evidence-based solutions for intersectional inequalities in healthcare and aspire to contribute to develop equitable global health policies. Using a mixed-methods sequential exploratory study design my PhD research aims to investigate the intersectionality of sex and deprivation on young people's experience of emergency acute asthma care and the outcomes following ED presentation in Wales. The findings of this PhD would help build the evidence base to develop a more personalised treatment plan for young people with asthma. In parallel to my full-time PhD, I also work as a part-time Research Officer/Research Manager, where I manage a Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW) funded pilot feasibility trial. This trial aims to co-develop a community-based intervention by working in partnership with the people from ethnic minority communities with lived experience of Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), their healthcare providers and the third sector organisations for raising awareness about T2DM follow-on checks and the importance of regular follow-on checks for people with lived experience of T2DM. Skills - Project management, stakeholder engagement, women and girls health research, co-production, asthma care, personalised treatment plan, ethnic minority health research, determinants of health, health inequalities and intersectionality.
