My work entailed at sea collection of data and biological samples aboard a variety of commercial fishing vessels across the WA and OR coasts. I have gotten to spend multiple days at sea collecting samples which has exposed me to nearly every species of groundfish, coral, and invertebrate that the west coast has to offer. I was promoted to lead observer in 2019. The lead role gave me the opportunity to manage ~10 observers, managing observer to vessel coverage and creating positive working relationships with fishermen and observers throughout many different fisheries. Previous to observing I attended school to get a BS in Biology with a minor in Marine Biology from University of Washington. I was given the opportunity to spend a quarter of school in the research lab at Friday Harbor, giving me extensive hands on experience in a number of different marine research projects relating to the west coast intertidal zones.
