My career has focused on helping people realize this fact through 1:1 counseling, developing workshops, programs, and initiatives that help people understand how to access this life changing opportunity. I've been able to lead this mission through my employment at a CSU and UC campus and within a K-8 school district. My passion also lead me to create a non-profit organization that focuses on College Access and College Success. Each experience helped me understand the various pieces that are needed in completing a whole child approach to helping students reach their educational goals. My life experiences of being a first-generation college student, economically disadvantaged, and coming from immigrant parents has helped me connect with so many populations that need to hear this message. I feel the connection to each first-generation college student I help complete a FAFSA since I was that student in 1993 who didn't know the purpose of the FAFSA. I understand the confusion of a parent when they hear for the first time about the various systems of higher education. Overall, my experience has helped me give back to my community the knowledge I gained to help me reach my educational goals.
