Background: Started my career in Cape Town in the IT industry following my passion for technology. Initially worked in a number of smaller software companies with different technologies (Java, Coldfusion, ASP). I then joined a small company working on a web application that managed magazine subscriptions for the Media24 group (Golf Digest, Men’s Health, Readers Digest, etc). We adopted the .Net framework soon after it's first release and I was tasked with migrating our VBScript ASP pages to the then new C# web forms. I then moved to Panama and started to focus on project management. I built up enough hours in order to do my PMP certification. I worked on an experimental B2B ecommerce web application for a small startup looking to sell goods for niche markets such as diplomats, cruise liners, etc. This was with MSSQL, ASP.Net (Razor) and was hosted on AWS in it's then early days. I then moved back to my home country and focused once again on web development. I joined a company that does the development for the back of house applications used by the likes of McDonalds, KFC and Chic-Fil-A. These are big legacy N-Tier systems, with both old and new tech in a huge code base. On my team, I was able to introduce automation testing with Selenium of our mobile (AngularJS) web application and train the QA team to write their own automation tests. I am also helping a team that is in the process of converting our AngularJS client-side code to the latest version of Angular using all the bells and whistles, and working on a team writing services that consume real time data streams from the client's restaurant point of sales systems. This is via an AWS SQS queue, and a .net core service with a vue.js front end and is used for management forecasting and reporting of inventory and labour requirements in the different restaurants. At the same time, I am also working on improving my skills with new technologies, specifically with Angular inside Google's Firebase server-less eco-system, using no-sql repos, cloud functions, etc.
