My main training is in Plant Cell Science and my first love is research especially using cutting edge technologies and electron microscopy. Currently I am a Senior Technical officer in Conway Institute Imaging Core, working with Electron Microscopes and other imaging tools. I love Microscopy and and imaging and enjoy very much helping people to get the best out of their material when it comes to imaging. I taught undergraduates in UCD and DIT; an enjoyable challenge to keep students engaged and actively learning. I am interested in social justice and helped establish a not for profit in Dublin's inner city named Upward Bound running non residential summer science camps for at risk teens (2000-2003). By engaging young peoples' natural curiosity we hoped to develop in them a love of learning and confidence in their own ability to learn and explore. It is a pleasure to help others discover and connect with their interest and passion. As an independent consultant with eco-engineers I have contributed to ecological studies, especially in modelling sustainable living solutions on natural processes. Mother Nature wastes little and can teach us much. I worked in Dalkey castle for two years (2016-2018) as a tour guide and loved learning about the history and cultural heritage of DLR.
