Experience includes working across all sectors and serving on a wide variety of charity boards and advisory groups. Previous career spanning 30 years in a wide variety of voluntary sector organisations. For 11 years until April 2011, was Chief Executive of YouthNet, the UK’s first not-for-profit dot.com. YouthNet (now The Mix and Do-it.org) ran TheSite.org, the award-winning guide to life for 16-25 year olds and Do-it, the National Volunteering Database. Strong strategic planning, policy development, partnership development, marketing, media, communications, fundraising, governance and entrepreneurial skills. A successful record of innovation and development including proven understanding and experience of new technology and media and change management in a multi-stakeholder and complex environment. Extensive experience of liaising directly with government ministers and officials and the media and representing organisations at the highest levels. Deep knowledge and experience and a real passion for working and communicating with young people and volunteers. Awarded the CBE for services to volunteering in the New Years Honours List 2012 and the OBE for services to the voluntary sector in 2003.
