She started writing music for kids after the birth of her son, Vincent Crow (now 8), in 2013. Venues they have played include: Joe's Pub (twice), Union Square's City Summer in the Square, Governors Island, McCarren Park, Hippo Playground, Carl Schurz Park, Monty Hall, NJ, a live broadcast on WFMU's show, Double Dip Recess, and the Colony Club in Woodstock, NY. Esther's 1st solo album, All Together Now, produced by Grammy-winning engineer Dean Jones, received a NAPPA 2021 award. Her song Bees, Beavers and Bats, feat. 2x Grammy-winner, Lucy Kalantari, was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition in 2021, and the video for the song was a finalist in the animated video category for the Funky Kids Radio Awards (Australia). Esther performs solo, and with her family band (husband, Dan Crow and 9-yr-old son, Vincent). Appearances include: Merkin Hall, Bank Street Bookstore, Book Culture on Columbus, Jane’s Exchange, The Ellington in the Park (Riverside Park), Pipsqueak Children’s Shoppe (Brooklyn), Edamama (Brooklyn), Jerome Park Library (the Bronx), the Brooklyn Public Library, Fort Greene Park, JCC Harlem, West Harlem Piers, Pier 1, Hippo Playground, the Montessori Harvest Festival, Open Streets 103 & 109, Grand Bazaar, Union Square, Old Stone House (Brooklyn), Jalopy Theatre, Garner Arts Fest, and the O+ Festival in Kingston, NY. Her shows are an eclectic mix of original songs, and duets with her handmade puppets. Each of her puppets have big personalities and dance moves of their own; like Bernie the Bee who loves to eat anchovies and dance to the sound of a kazoo, and new sock puppet, Sustainable Sammy, who teaches climate-conscious lessons to the very young. She weaves comedy and kindness into each show, while encouraging kids to shake instruments and move the beat of her groovy tunes.
