Dr. Kwayu has considerable experience in training and conducting research and consultancy services on result based monitoring and evaluation, baseline surveys, mid-term review evaluations and impact evaluation studies. Apart from his PhD research which was on the evaluation of the “Potential of Agro-Ecosystems Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) to Provide Ecosystem Services and Poverty Reduction in Developing Countries using a case study of the Equitable Payments for Watershed Services (EPWS) Program in Morogoro, Tanzania”, Kwayu has been various types of training on approaches and methods of conducting result based monitoring and evaluation and Impact Evaluation Measurements. Kwayu has an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in the Evaluation of Conservation and Development Interventions from the Sustainability Research Institute at the University of Leeds, an MA in Geography and Environmental Management and BA in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University Of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Research Interests As an interdisciplinary research scientist whose research draws on multiple disciplines with broad focus on environment and development, Dr. Kwayu has considerable interested in doing empirical analyses of issues concerning the environment and natural resources. This includes efficient use and management of forests, agro-forests, water, energy, wetlands, fisheries, and wildlife in the context of sustainable development. Other areas are climate change mitigation and adaptation, environmental goods and services, livelihoods, Payments for Environmental Services (PES) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
