Through all of the experiences I've gone through in my life, the most memorable to date was from my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Silver, who inspired me to become the best version of myself, for myself. Through her teachings, I moved through life obstacles filled with curiosity, enthusiasm, and kindness. It wasn't because of the fact that I am a first generation immigrant of the Philippines, nor was it because I've endured struggle early on, but instead, it was a simple message that was given to me. A message given not through words but by actions. Mrs. Silver taught me two things that I didn't come to realize until later on in life. 1) Happiness could be found through helping others 2) Good people still exist. In the things I do in my everyday life, I make sure to incorporate her teachings to make the world a better place, even if it's one step at a time. As I got older, I came to realize that the world wasn't at all the pretty picture we've been taught, but regardless, none of it stop me. I aim to leave an impact on others just as Mrs. Silver did with me. If this means that I only help 2 people out of a million, then rest assured I did my part. I found what I loved early on and if I could continue to expand communities, be available at the call of service, or even innovate to make lives easier, I can say that I've lived a life of purpose This is my why. It's the reason to my success and accomplishments. It built who I am as a person. But, this is just my start.
