I am hoping to assist organizations in improving the success rate of service dogs by selecting the best breeding candidates using modern genetic selection methods. I am currently a graduate student pursuing a PhD in veterinary sciences with an emphasis in canine genetics at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. I am working on a service dog behavioral genetics project in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Disorders to develop a predictive genetic test for desired behavioral traits in autism assistance dogs. Other projects include estimating heritability of behavior in service dogs and analyzing dog behavior evaluations. In addition to my research, I am learning skills in data analysis, computational biology, and quantitative genetics.
