Emma Meese Email & Phone Number | I'm a highly motivated journalist who is passionate about the local, community and hyperlocal news sector, with almost thirty years experience working in journalism and broadcasting. I sit on many boards and advise Governments on various matters relating to journalism in Wales and the UK. As the director of independent journalism at Cardiff University I have founded the Centre for Community Journalism (C4CJ) and the Independent Community News Network (ICNN), a UK wide representative body for the independent community and hyperlocal news sector. As director of both ICNN and and C4CJ I work with news publishers, academics, governments, charities and businesses worldwide with the aim of strengthening and sustaining the independent and community news sector. My guest lectures are spread across undergraduate, post graduate, broadcast, newspaper, magazine, PR and Welsh. They are across a variety of subjects from Social Media and Mobile journalism to Independent Community Journalism. I sit on: the Welsh Government Public Interest Journalism Working Group DCMS UK Press Roundtable the BBC's Local Democracy Reporter Scheme advisory board the Institute of Welsh Affairs' Media Policy Group the board of the Wales Media Awards the Scottish Government Public Interest Journalism Working Group NUJ Training Wales Board the Digital News and Information Taskforce for the National Assembly of Wales the Women in Journalism Board Over the past 13 years I've gained a reputation as a respected trainer; teaching social media, journalism, mobile journalism and digital skills, in both English and Welsh. I have helped set up a number of hyperlocal news publications and trained the editorial teams in print, online and mobile news publishing. Using my experience as a senior BBC Social Media Producer and consultant I have helped individuals, companies and organisations devise their own social media guidelines, strategies and policies. I also teach them to film and create engaging content on mobile devices. To stay on top of current social media trends I am a content creator, with a strong following of 25k on Instagram. I’m passionate about great content creation and User Generated Content (UGC).
