I cut my teeth as a news journalist and moved on to tackle subjects including tech, travel, culture and the environment. Serving up videos and articles in a way that makes people feel something is what I’m about. - I respect people and I’m not ashamed to say I’m kind. For me, working in an environment where respect is the currency is essential. As I’ve inhabited more senior positions I’ve tried to take this ethos over into my management style. - Writing is my first love and something I’ve worked hard at over the years. Starting out as a digital journalist, I quickly understood the value of an eye-catching headline and keeping readers' eyes on a page. - I’ve become a dab hand at commissioning. It sounds so simple, but communicating a clear brief for freelancers or colleagues is a skill in itself, as is making sure the content hits the nail on the head. I now know what detail is needed when giving out work and equally what questions to ask to make sure I understand a task.
