Emily Rocha Ed Email & Phone Number | Equity, responsibility, authenticity, and connection are central to my work with college students, whether that be planning our large spring concert or encouraging two student leaders to productively resolve a conflict. I have been with Student Activities and Leadership Development at Siena College for over two years, and in this role work closely with students to plan bi-weekly campus-wide events, as well as larger traditional campus programs, both of which require high levels of organization and creativity. In addition, I supervise a staff of Orientation Leaders who prove to me time and time again that no matter how much energy I think I have, they have ten times more. I am motivated and invigorated daily by the passion my students have for Siena and for each other, and they encourage me to always think outside the box. By leveraging Nevitt Sandford's (1967) "Challenge and Support" model, Marcia Baxter Magolda's (2008) Theory of Self-Authorship, and Nancy Schlossberg's concepts of Mattering and Marginality, I strive to provide students with meaningful opportunities to engage more deeply with one another, themselves, and their community while writing their own unique stories. My success is measured by every smiling student I see across the quad, every successful club suggestion that allows a student to further define themselves and their beliefs, and every challenge a student leader faces that they learn from. I am grateful to work in such a highly impactful field as student affairs, and I look forward to continuing to help students determine their unique college experience through co-curricular involvement and participation for many years to come.
