I worked in urgent care and family practice continuously until October 2022. In November of that year I transitioned from clinical practice to management as I took on the role of Executive Director for Savior. I helped to open a new site for Savior Hospice in Lakeside, Arizona and currently manage that site directly. This is a rural location with very few healthcare resources and a large population that lives below the federal poverty line. This creates a challenging environment to meet the needs of these underserved communities, educate regarding current best practice backed by scientific research, and continue to grow as a company. Providing health care in a rural area requires the abilities to adapt and think outside of the box. It is difficult but also very rewarding. My duties as Executive Director include human resources/employee management, resource utilization, financial planning and budgeting, community outreach, and marketing. I lead my team with a constructive, forward-thinking attitude that encourages individual growth and collaborative effort to maximize our limited resources to the greatest good. I also consult as a palliative NP for the local hospital in addition to my administrative duties. This entails evaluating patients in the hospital, discussing their goals of care, educating regarding palliative and hospice care, assisting the hospitalist to identify acute- and long-term goals and needs for the patient and advocating for their wishes.
