With a strong background in cardiology as well as immunology, I am able to identify new drug targets and creatively accelerate the development and progression of therapy projects. Next to a strong foundation for research, I am involved in international collaborations and strategic partnerships to improve patient care in the future. As a scientist, I am a passionate and detail-oriented team player. As a supervisor, I enjoy motivating people to grow and achieve common goals efficiently. As a teacher and public speaker, I gain purpose from increasing awareness on sex-differences and current possibilities in in vitro research. Before I transitioned into industry, I was working at the Laboratory of Experimental Cardiology & Regenerative Medicine Center at the UMC Utrecht, the Internal Medicine at the Radboud UMC, and at the Charité in Berlin, Germany. Here, I was supported by personal grants and working in consortia, and I engaged in multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional work environments. Early 2018, I successfully defended my doctoral dissertation called "Myocardial remodeling during pathophysiology: Relevance for cardiac dysfunction" at the department of Medical Physiology of the UMC Utrecht.
