In particular my research on the development of cost-effective cheap routes such as combustion, hydrothermal, ion-exchange, inverse micelle and lyophilization has brought me world wide recognition. My present work involves development of infrared and blue LED excitable phosphors and MgO coating of the phosphors and upconvertors. Another important research that I have been involved is the development of UV filters that protect skin from cancer. My research work has been focused on various technologically useful advanced inorganic materials such as lamp phosphors, blue LED phosphors, X-ray storage phosphors and cold cathode fluorescent lamp phosphors, semiconductor composites, nanoclusters, vanadates, borates, open framework phosphates and arsenates, inorganic pigments, light-weight ceramics and so on. My contribution to science through more than 20 publications in internationally renewed journals evidences importance of my research. Another important contribution to science is that I was the first scientist in the world to synthesize and characterize mixed valence titanium phosphate templated with diamines, which is useful for redox reaction. In fact, the American professor, Prof. Timothy R Hughbanks, USA highlighted this work in chemistry and Industry magazine (March 15, 1999). Further, very recently, one of my papers has been cited in CRC book (2004), u201cInorganic Phosphorsu201d my work has been cited 385imes in a very short time.
