I started my career in finance as an finance assistant in January 2015 in a family run SME with a turnover in excess of 5mil. I began studying AAT and in November 2017 I got promoted to Finance Manager. Working for a family run business allowed me to develop my experience in a variety of finance related tasks. I completed AAT levels 2, 3 & 4 and remained in this role until I accepted the position of Payroll & Finance Manager for Caremark Ltd, a care company offering many types of home & social care. I was a student leader all through secondary school and enjoyed taking part in productions and leading after-school dance classes, this really developed my ability to communicate with others. I am very confident and enjoy working within a team, however, over my 7.5 years at Johnson’s, I have learnt how to effectively work independently and manage/ prioritise key tasks. I currently manage 1 finance assistant and have previously trained up 2 accounts assistants, (one with no financial background) and had a student shadow me for work experience. I also taught dance classes during secondary school which I have found helped my teaching methods blossom. I have really enjoyed helping people understand my work and grasp how vital every step is to the process as a whole. My job roles have included monthly Payroll and Pensions of over 130 employees, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Bank rec, Petty Cash rec, Credit card rec, VAT returns, Subcontractor payments, CIS returns, Year End prep, Job spreadsheets, Profit and Loss reports, P32 reports and payments, cash flow forecasts, dealing with accounts queries through phone calls and emails, taking payments as well as general adhoc duties.
