In this role, he successfully developed a strategic framework for Apple’s social presence across multiple business units and through the funnel. He launched Apple’s first social presence, @apple on Instagram, becoming the fastest growing brand handle on the platform with a following of 23M and an industry leading double digit engagement rate. He also led lower funnel commerce and care driven models supporting AOS and AppleCare teams to discover new commerce opportunities and customer care approaches such as @AppleSupport on Twitter which helped significantly reduce call center volume overhead. Most recently, Edward left Apple to build out an integrated marketing team as the Head of Marketing for TikTok, the burgeoning short form video platform. At TikTok, Edward led brand marketing, social & digital, advertising, media, partnership marketing and product marketing, all working towards tackling the challenge of accelerating platform growth while mainstreaming the TikTok brand into the vernacular of American culture. He helped accelerate record growth to the platform’s DAU/DNU metrics and while helping to drive average retention % by building out and attacking new vertical segments. At the same time, he led efforts to establish the brand’s strategic positioning of inspiring creativity and bringing joy, which helped ensure marketing consistency and direction globally.
