Since 2020, he has been accumulating hands-on experience in the field of recombinant protein purification in the biopharmaceutical industry. He earned his B.S. degree in Applied Biology and Chemistry in 2010 and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2019, both from Seoul National University, South Korea. During his Ph.D., he studied RNA-binding proteins implicated in the biogenesis of microRNAs. To elucidate the functions of these proteins, he mainly applied biochemistry and molecular genetics to cultured mammalian cells. He also actively collaborated with bioinformaticians to gain insights from high-throughput data, which helped him develop and improve his interpersonal skills. With a strong desire to contribute to human welfare through practical and directly applicable research, he joined LG Chem in 2020 to start his career in the biopharmaceutical industry. He has participated in the development and optimization of scale-up purification processes for recombinant protein therapeutics, acquiring practical knowledge on the Quality-by-design (QbD) approach. He is taking a leading role in coordinating the technology transfer of the developed processes from R&D to manufacturing.
