Donna Davidson Email & Phone Number | As a writer, I focus on literary nonfiction and arts journalism and incorporating these mediums into use of documentary and short films. Currently a student at Columbia University School of the Arts MFA Writing Program in Nonfiction. I attended the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. I began my studies with Tom Sherwood, now principal percussionist of the Cleveland Orchestra, and Bill Wilder, assistant timpanist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. While in New York, I studied with the principal percussionist of the New York Philharmonic and principal timpanist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Performing career includes solo performances with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, concerts with Opera Noire of New York as well as the Philadelphia Wind Symphony, and solo concerts for the National Black Arts Festival. In addition, performed at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall on numerous occasions. After two years in New York, began touring the east coast on jazz vibraphone. Passionate about writing, music, and transmedia storytelling through short films, documentary filmmaking, blogging, and producing podcasts along with concert production. My most recent project includes an interdisciplinary, solo percussion recital incorporating visual arts, dance, and technology in collaboration with the Georgia Institute of Technology's Center for Music and Technology. I have experience in administrative work coupled with marketing, having created the official Twitter account for Spelman College's Department of Music with video and photography editing, networking with music schools across the U.S. as well as overseeing database materials for students and managing mail, financial documents, mail and telephone correspondences, etc. Environmental work includes working for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife service as an intern for the Cape May and Supawna Meadows Wildlife Refuges, assisting the wildlife biologist with habitat surveys and research on plant and animal species on both refuges.
