Don Wenner Email & Phone Number | From the day I first studied the back of a baseball card, I loved analyzing numbers. Yet, I’m way more than a numbers guy. Career experience solidified my core values of integrity, dependability, agility, leadership, and teamwork. More than any number, these values define who I am. As an officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, I collaborated skillfully with all levels, leading teams to develop budgets, analyze data, report financials, and modernize business processes. I took pride in the Fed’s mission to foster stability, integrity, and efficiency in the US economy. Leaving the Fed after 26 years, I explored new paths. First, I leveraged courses completed earlier to launch a financial planning business with Strategies For Wealth. I valued the mission of helping individuals make important decisions to protect and grow their assets. After moving to Vermont in 2015, I partnered with 3 others to open Home Plate Restaurant and Bar. We proudly served delicious meals in a friendly setting we described as “a Vermont-syle grill with a touch of diner.” While pursuing these entrepreneurial ventures, I taught intro finance/accounting as an adjunct instructor at New York University School of Professional Studies. I developed the course syllabus, taught initially in-class, and later transitioned to online instruction. I enjoy helping students increase financial literacy to advance their careers. Since January 2019, I've served as Interim Financial Director for Vermont's Division of Lottery. From this experience, I've learned to appreciate the opportunities and challenges of a for-profit business operating within a government framework. It's been a pleasure working with the dedicated staff and satisfying to know that 100% of the Vermont Lottery's profits are directed to the State's Education Fund. With my interim role with Vermont Lottery expected to conclude in March, I look forward to my next full-time position with another mission-based organization I’ll be proud to represent.
