Diane Gwilt Email & Phone Number | Following graduation in 1985 from the Institute of Archaeology, London, with a BSc in archaeological conservation Diane worked in the stone, wallpaintings and mosaics section, Department of Conservation, British Museum. In 1991, she moved to the National Trust where she undertook the conservation of architectural stone and plaster work. Initially employed by Amgueddfa Cymru –National Museum Wales as Senior Conservator in the Department of Archaeology, she has since taken on a variety of roles including managing a museum and facilitating strategic and operational planning. In 2003, she was appointed Head of Collection Care & Access Projects, investing 4.43m in a range of projects that have enhanced storage of, and access to, the museum’s research and reference collections. In October 2009, she was appointed Keeper - Collection Services, with strategic responsibility for collection care and management across the Museum's eight sites. In 2012 she gained a Diploma in Law and Collections Management from the Institute of Art and Law. From May 2015 - May 2018, her responsibilities were temporarily expanded, to include strategic management of the Art and History & Archaeology departments. In addition to collection care and management, strategic responsibilities also currently encompass ICT, GDPR and income generation. Publishing on a range of topics, she has also been an external examiner for Durham University and an Associate Lecturer at Cardiff University for the MSc Care of Collections. Previously Chair of both UKIC and Icon, in 2011 she chaired the UK Museum Association’s (MA) working group on smarter loans. She has been a member of the Arts Council England Accreditation Committee since 2007. Current Board/Committee memberships include the Arts Council Designation Committee; Archives and Records Council Wales (ARCW); National Museum Directors Council Heads of Collection Management; Trustee, The Judge's Lodging, Presteigne; and the National Heritage Science Forum.
