Declan Mccloskey Email & Phone Number | Declan's current role is working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Engineering Development at the Birchwood Park Offices for Jacobs. Declan is the Deputy Engineering Manager on the Chimera EPC project which involves the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of a fusion test facility for UKAEA. Declan has an excellent understanding of mechanical design and the substantiation of remote handling equipment, test rigs, site deployable equipment and the authoring of methods statements for equipment use in radiological controlled environments. Declan qualified with a 1st Class Master’s Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in 2011 during which he got the opportunity to do an industrial placement with Michelin Tyre PLC. This was a great insight into engineering and confirmed his desire to become an engineer. He then joined the nucleargraduates scheme which is a two year graduate scheme across the Nuclear Industry. The scheme is made up of three secondments The first was at Sellafield Ltd as a Systems Engineer and the next was with Atkins in Bristol in the Decommissioning South team. Both these secondments were very different and gave Declan unique opportunities to see different aspects of the nuclear industry. The third secondment was an international secondment in the United States working for WRPS on the Hanford Site. In between secondments nucleargraduates have training zones which involve study for a PG Cert in Nuclear Technology with the University of Manchester and Footprints. Footprints is a corporate and social responsibility which takes the form of STEM work with schools and a SME challenge which was to set up and run our own business. My team set up a business to promote sustainability by growing your own vegetables and I was the Financial Director.
