Since April of 2000 I have Pastored a church, directed social services and worked with those suffering in disasters. I am called to assist people in their need. Compassion is a prerequisite in working with The Salvation Army, as well as being able to see beyond the present situation and to articulate that vision to those embroiled in either the results of their own decisions, those whose lives have been affected by outside incidents or events and those having their lives turned upside down due to disaster. I love to be in the midst of a disaster. That will sound strange to those who have never worked in the disaster arena. I find that during the response and recovery to any disaster is the best place to really show the love of Christ to those hurting and who may be still reeling from the effects of nature's fury and provide comfort physically, spiritually, emotionally and sometimes mentally. Although I have worked and am trained for command positions in logistics and operations, and love working in command and communicating with the various areas of command and control, I still love to be on the front lines, working among those who are affected most. My first book is entitled"Learning to Agalliao" which is a Greek word which means to "jump for joy". It teaches someone in the throes of suffering to be able to keep their joy, even in the darkest times. I know it can be done. But it is only possible through a relationship with God. You can see more at Agalliao.net My second book, "What My Dog Taught Me About Jesus" is the story of finding God in some unusual places. I found Him in my dog's actions. But He's everywhere so can be found everywhere if we just look around.
