In my current role as Head of Careers and Employability at The University of Northampton, I am responsible for strategic management and leadership of its careers and employability service. This involves aligning service objectives with University strategy, as well as leading pan university projects relating to graduate employability, Graduate Outcomes performance and the University's Access and Participation Plan. As head of service and a careers practitioner, I embrace use of traditional and technology enhanced CEIAG methods to provide accessible services to all clients. This approach has been successful throughout my career to date. At The Open University I was significantly involved in the implementation of a new employability framework across curriculum. Introduction of the framework has enhanced employability related learning in all qualifications and contributed to increased levels of career service engagement from students. At University College Birmingham I was responsible for the implementation of a new careers service delivery platform. The platform allowed students to complete careers related learning activities at times and in locations which suited their unique personal circumstances. To ensure my practice stays current I remain research active. My research portfolio includes "What are the careers information, advice and guidance needs of level 1 Open University Computing and IT learners?" and "Are virtual insight visits an effective way of engaging students?". Results of my research have influenced the delivery of careers provision and learning design strategy in the HEI sector. Earlier in my career I worked in Further Education and Higher Education student facing roles which involved career guidance, module design, teaching delivery and assessment, placement management and employer engagement. This included working with boxers who were identified as having elite potential by England Boxing. I have an academic and professional background in sport. I am award winning coach and previously competed in athletics to a high standard.
