In 2011 CCF NSW’s CEO baton was passed to me. My predecessor did an extraordinary job lifting the profile of the organisation. My challenge was to establish CCF NSW with a new vision of itself in a new future; develop an innovative business plan to underpin it; and the tough calls to ensure it got there. Awesome challenge, but impossible without a superb team and dedicated Board. The challenges posed by natural disasters, a pandemic, the economy and inexplicable political settings were, at times, significant. Like anyone in leadership my role was to find a path through. I am passionate about representation and performance. Representative organisations must lead by example, set the tone of discussion for their industry, be innovative, perform financially and 'be' what they seek of their Members: Support. Fearlessly delivered. Not for Profit…for You. But the tough times were far from the sum of my story. The CCF NSW family of Members constructed something extraordinary that performs extremely well, capitalising on innovation and inclusiveness as an integral part of its culture. The 2017 launch of Australia's first industry-driven Women in Civil Program was an example, and the setting of a Vision "50% females in civil roles by 2050" drew a line in the sand. The launch in 2018 of the Institute of Civil Infrastructure which provides, across nearly all of Australia, the first ever industry controlled, civil specific, continual professional development program is another. And the announcement in 2022 that CCF NSW accepted climate change, and was focused on solutions to minimise harm to NSW, was dear to me. In February 2023 I called ''time’ as CEO of both CCF NSW and the ICI and departed in August. After 12+ years we were in excellent shape financially, Member services were at an all-time high, and the future looked very good, so the time was right. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Boards I’ve had the privilege to work with. Their unwavering dedication and sacrifice is extraordinary. An enormous thanks to the extraordinary staff and suppliers of CCF NSW who's commitment to Members has delivered all our achievements. Most significantly, my thanks to the CCF NSW family of Members. Tough, commercial, soft as butter - you are amazing. The trust you placed in me was incredibly humbling. The laughter, tears, and shared experiences are forever with me. It was an absolute honour to serve you.
