David Berthiaume Email & Phone Number | When I wrote my first computer game, a colorful, artistic 4x4 version of Tic Tac Toe written in Basic on an old hand-me-down Commodore 64, I knew I had found my passion. In the decades since, this passion has remained constant. Numbers and algorithms tell a beautiful story. They tell the truth. My primary focus is on data science/deep learning, high-performance computing, remote sensing, GIS, computer vision, and mathematical modeling, solving critical problems for various departments of the government, NASA, and insurance companies. My educational background is in Mathematics and Data Science from Wocester Polytechnic Institute and Harvard University. In 2017, I founded a geospatial analytics company called Paper Crane which is based on a patented algorithm I invented that merges heterogenous geospatial data (vector and raster) into a unified mathematical structure that allows one to derive spatial relationships among multiple layers in real-time at scale. This technology was used to solve problems in the insurance and real estate industries. Paper Crane was successfully acquired by Avalara in 2022, where I continue to use this invention to solve challenging geospatial computer vision and high-performance computing problems. Among my hobbies are composing music, playing piano, and creating algorithmic artwork. Some examples of my more recent pieces can be found below and at my website found above. As I concurrently study at Harvard and MIT, I firmly believe in the power of continued education. My pursuit of advanced knowledge is not merely for personal growth but to contribute meaningfully to the evolving field of data science.
