He spent 12 years in the USA primarily working in San Francisco for the national Urban Design practice of ROMA Design Group, where he had the opportunity to design projects from large master planned communities and transit-oriented developments to small urban CBD, waterfront sites and brownfield airport and surplus military site reuse. In 2003, he returned to Australia to establish a 30-strong team of designers and planners for Lend Lease to develop new communities in NSW and the ACT. These projects include the UDIA award-winning communities of Rouse Hill, Ropes Crossing, Nelson's Ridge and Forde in the ACT. David then worked on Barangaroo, focused on the pubic domain, lower rise buildings and solving significant site issues. In 2012, David moved to a national role at Stockland as the National Urban Design Manager. In this role, David is engaged in over 45 projects ranging from new towns taking over 30 years to build, to small, intimate communities complete in a couple of years and part of the revised strategy to build in higher density precincts. David holds a Masters of Architecture in Urban Design degree from Harvard University and Bachelor of Architecture degrees from RMIT and the University of Canberra.
