My background has been mostly focused on Ruby on Rails, MySQL, PostgreSQL, JavaScript, Java, and SASS. But in the past year I have added React, Redux, TypeScript, GRPC-based microservices, AWS, Terraform, CircleCI and Jenkins, all while continuing to be immediately productive in new positions. - Translating business requirements into technical requirements, with the understanding that specs can change, and the know-how to ensure the system stays fast and extensible in the future. - Understanding the tradeoffs required by enterprise software, and knowing when to prioritize short term patches over long-term systemic improvements. What I’m looking to do next: Build a reputation with a company who cares both about the product they create, and the process that they use to create it, and grow into a staff engineer or technical lead position. I am particularly interested in companies who are trying to move from an advertising-supported business model to an alternate revenue stream, as I believe that is one of the biggest challenges facing the tech industry right now. I would love the opportunity to lead or mentor junior developers; I remember how hard the tech industry was when I was first starting out, and I think a small help at the beginning of someone's career can have a huge payoff.
