Dava Serbantes Email & Phone Number | I retired from my first career and joined the trucking industry with intentions of helping my husband with our own trucking company. However, the economic disaster of the housing industry of 2008 negated that. So, I became a commercial driver for 7 years with Schneider, teaming with my husband. I enjoyed driving, however, I found it too difficult to be away from home, especially for 6 weeks at a time. I am not interested in full-time employment at this time. However, one of the things I learned while trucking is how difficult it is for truck companies to navigate issues surrounding a driver calling in sick, becoming injured or quitting suddenly. I have maintained my license after leaving Schneider, but have not been employed for the last few years. I currently am interested in being available to work for a company that would only use me for those times of emergency where I could fill in to allow the committed deliveries to be completed. Naturally, I am willing to work with said company for training hours. I did this for Schneider the last six months I worked . They sent me to wherever the truck was located to complete the deliveries and return the truck to the appropriate yard, then they got me home. So, I am willing to travel as well. I really enjoyed this "less-than-part-time" work and am sure there is a need for this type of employee in the trucking industry.
