A dog truly is man’s best friend. Oliver taught me patience and trust. Patience and trust is something you need when training dogs. Just as kids…..they will always try your patience. My interest in training started in 2006. I started training Oliver at twelve weeks old. I thought to myself what in the world am I getting myself into. I educated myself by reading numerous books and magazines and research on the web and visits to my local library. I wanted to train Oliver to hunt with all the natural instincts he is given. I wanted my dog to be a natural hunter. I just wanted a good dog to upland bird hunt and duck hunt. During my training process with Oliver, I realized how smart and eager this dog was to learn. I had a plan in play and each week that went by he got better and better. I thought to myself either this dog is extremely intelligent or I am a pretty good trainer or both. Well as time went on, I realized both were true. I had a passion in me that Oliver brought out and Oliver with his championship bloodline compliments his enthusiasm and ability to be a great hunting dog. It seemed a lot of things came natural to him. Today, Oliver is one of the best upland and duck hunting dog I have ever been around. With all that said….We felt Oliver needed a companion and we got another lab, a female, Gracie. I trained Gracie just as I did Oliver. We breed Gracie and Oliver twice together and they produced beautiful puppies. Gracie is now retired from having pups. We kept two pups from her first litter, Milo and Ripley. I trained them both to upland bird hunt and duck hunt.
