Dario AcuaCastroviejo is a I joined to the University of Granada, Spain, in 1975, just after received the MD degree at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Soon after, in 1977, I obtained my PhD degree from the University of Granada, Spain. Aftherthat, I made two postdoctoral training periods; the first one in the CONICET (Centro de Estudios Farmacológicos y de Principios Naturales, Buenos AIres, Argentina; Prof. Daniel P Cardinali), to work on the regulation of brain GABA and benzodiazepine receptors by melatonin, and the second one in the University of Texas (Dept. Cellular & Structural Biology, Health Science Center at San Antonio, TX, USA; Prof. Russel J Reiter), working on the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of melatonin. During these years, I was a recipient of several fellowships from the University of Granada and the Spanish Ministry of Education. I am Full Professor in Physiology at the Granada School of Medicine, Spain, from 1993.
