I attempt to settle all matters through negotiation or though a process called Collaborative Law. In a Collaborative divorce all issues are resolved by the parties without involving the court. The parties are the ultimate decision makers. The focus is on the well being of the children and preserving wealth in an efficient manner so the parties are able to move forward post divorce without much of the angst and bitterness often associated with divorce. I began my law career in 1986 at Pedersen & Houpt where I worked as first an associate and then a partner. I became a fellow of the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois in 2006 and I am a trained mediator. I handle all types of family law matters including complex financial issues, property classification, property division, child custody and support and maintenance. I work to help people resolve their family law issues through the Collaborative process or through a negotiated settlement if possible.
