Crystal Lee Email & Phone Number | Before becoming a Technical Writer, I worked in the subrogation and personal injury fields. My responsibilities as a Paralegal were to request medical bills and records from medical providers, review and summarize medical records, then compile case-related documents into a brochure in preparation for hearings and arbitrations. As an Investigator at Optum Subrogation, I triaged potential subrogation cases in preparation for lien negotiation/settlement. I reviewed incoming correspondence then researched medical coverage, confirmed laws, then sent notice letters to contacts. I also coached, mentored, and performed quality oversights for new hires. As a Transactions Analyst (TA), I sent notice letters, retrieved plan documentation, and prepared insurance demand packages. However, I thrived in post-pay medical claims review. My extensive understanding of codes and injuries yielded bigger recoveries for Optum’s clients. I coached, mentored, and performed quality oversights for new hires as a TA as well. When I was promoted to TA Team Lead, I performed quality audits and lead coaching sessions on how to become more efficient and accurate. I guided TAs through job aids as they performed tasks, giving me an opportunity to find gaps and improvements in the documentation. This contributed to increased production and quality scores. I became the dedicated Lead to create and edit TA job aids for the Content Management Team to publish on Optum’s documentation repository website. As a Technical Writer for Subrogation on Optum’s Content Management Team, I wrote and edited job aids. In addition to requested updates, I provided suggestions for improvements to documents and reviewed the entire document for grammar, punctuation, readability, and usability. I then presented my documents in governance meetings with the business for final approval. I met turnaround times while maintaining high quality and learned HTML coding. Currently, I am the primary Technical Writer for a team of in-bound call representatives. The department is entirely unfamiliar to me, which has given me a unique chance to learn the process as I write it, thus I can find process gaps and improvements more effectively. The project goal is to review and simplify over 260 documents, then convert them into HTML. This project requires working draft sessions with Team Leads, research, and constant communication with the business regarding project status. Building relationships with the departments I work with is incredibly important to me which is why I have a year-to-date Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 100%.
