  Craig Nichols is a Starting out my career in Carpentry has given me a really good base to start learning from. I think that my first years in my trade really set me up to be able to try out new and different skills that many people don't experience during some other trades. This showed me that you do not have to be limited in what you can learn and achieve. From this starting point, I have been happy to develop a broad range of skills, and have never stopped trying to gain more experience and skills in whatever it is I have found myself doing. I have discovered that having a good attitude, good work ethic, and being honest, reliable and kind, can lead to great opportunities if you apply these things to all that you do. It is these characteristics I believe that has helped me forge good relationships with my employers, co-workers and contractors. These same characteristics have also been responsible for the regular opportunities to have some extra responsibility whereby it has given me the chance to increase skills and knowledge in most of the places I have worked. I am most proud of the way that I have always given my best in every job, and have achieved some things I am proud of along the way. Owning my own business taught me a lot, and gave me a whole lot of new skills and experience I might not have gained in any other way. From leading some of my own major projects, to getting the opportunity to train an apprentice have been some of my highlights during this time. I am also proud of my ability to problem solve and work out solutions. My time working in school environments has helped me develop these skills further, with its constant challenges and the need to have instant answers to the problems faced. It has been rewarding to see some of the results which have been grafted out of challenging circumstances, and because of this, I feel like I have gained the trust and respect of co-workers and senior executives. It is within this school environment that I have managed to apply the things I have learned to first fulfil my role as the Maintenance Manager and then into fulfilling the current role as Director of Facilities. This challenge has been a very big learning experience which continues every day. I am grateful for the experience and knowledge I have gained and for the opportunities presented to me. Although I do not know exactly what the future holds, I am looking forward to what is ahead.
