His career begins in 1993 as an owner/general manager of a durable medical equipment business. After selling the business he was recruited as the Clinical Operations Manager for Odessa Regional Hospital. In 1997, he was hired to start-up and develop an outpatient Wound Care Center for Curative Health. His hospital management career started in 2001 with Midland Health, running hospital owned physician practices. Edmondson was later promoted to VP of Support Services at Midland Health and ultimately the Sr. VP of Strategic Development. This career path led him to accept the position as President/CEO of Peterson Health in 2019. Since joining Peterson Health, it has grown to be the regional leader for healthcare. Growth in revenues, market share, quality and patient experience metrics, and employee satisfaction have all been keys to its success. His visionary leadership and collaboration with the Board and Medical Staff created a roadmap to implement a plan that includes major capital projects, new service lines, property acquisitions, physician engagement and recruitment, increased regional footprint, award winning quality and experience, and a positive culture. Some notable accomplishments during his tenure at Peterson includes raising 20.4M in a capital campaign to build a new ambulatory surgery center and being recognized as an Elite Rural and Community Hospital for quality and safety by Leapfrog in 2023, putting them in the top 15 hospitals in the US. This was affirmed by Peterson’s ability to move from a 3 Star rating to 5 Stars as recognized by CMS. Edmondson recognizes that it takes a team to be successful. As a result, the team understands he values them and has acknowledged that through employee engagement scores ranking as high as the 91st%tile and consistently winning Modern Health’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare since 2021. Peterson has a positive culture which helps recruit and retain team members. Serving are key parts of his leadership. From working with US and State Reps to educate and advocate for healthcare initiatives to serving as a Board of Trustees and Finance Committee Chairman for the Texas Hospital Association. He also serves on the President’s Advisory Council for Schreiner University, represents the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals, and volunteers in different capacities in the community.
