Stone has almost a decade of higher education professional experience in fields including first-generation student support, first-year student experience, high school and transfer student outreach, and global learning experiences. He is committed to the empowerment of student learning, leadership, and self-efficacy development in a context which is committed to equity and global perspectives. Outside of university administrative and teaching roles, Corey has developed a successful professional photography small business, intersecting his passion for higher education with his creative interests. With his Nikon d850, he has served a diverse array of students, families, and student organizations at university campuses across the state of Texas. In 2021, Corey developed a not-for-profit global learning initiative to support accessible and affordable global field trips for first-generation college students and graduates. Leveraging prior professional experiences leading trips to London and Paris, as well as Denver, CO and Little Rock, AR, in addition to assisting with programs in Southern Africa and Santiago, Chile, he has led trips through this initiative to New York City, the Pacific Northwest, and Spain. His academic research interests are primarily centered on understanding how equity-focused policymaking in the P-20 context practically impacts student outcomes during and after their undergraduate experiences. Currently, he is investigating the effects of early college high school programs on first-generation college student experiences at large research universities in Texas. Outside of education, Corey and his wife Liz enjoy traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with their pets, as well as working with his family on the family farm. He is an avid Texas A&M University Aggie sports fan, while also maintaining close ties to initiatives related to his alma mater.
