Previously, I was employed by Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) as a Curriculum Writer at the School of Fire and Emergency Services Training (SFEST), where I specialised in first aid, air and land search, and technical rescue. I bring with me over 10 years of experience as a volunteer in the Queensland State Emergency Service (SES) and Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) where I have held a variety of ranks and roles, including executive leadership and tactical command. With a wealth of tactical, operational and strategic knowledge and experience in the disaster and emergency management sector, I have an apparent interest and passion for the field. I am currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Emergency and Disaster Management through Central Queensland University. In 2013, I was awarded the National Emergency Medal with clasp for significant service in response to the 2010-2011 Queensland floods and Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasi in 2011. In 2020, I was awarded an additional clasp for my sustained service during Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie in 2017. I am also a recipient of the 2010-2011 Queensland Floods and Cyclone Citation and the 2014 G20 Citation. If you catch me outside of work, I'm a family-oriented man and an avid lover of the outdoors, meteorology and photography! I also volunteer for the State Emergency Service in Tasmania, where I am currently a Crew Leader with the Circular Head Unit, whose primary responsibility is the provision of road crash rescue.
