Teaching philosophies vary from person to person and are not all the same. Many apply their philosophies differently and go about teaching in their own way that works for them. As for me, even though I’m not yet an educator, my teaching style is repetitive to the point it becomes muscle memory and preferably automatic in certain situations. I know and understand that this doesn’t work for all, but as a soldier, leader, and trainer of troops this is what must happen frequently to be prepared to answer the nations calls. As educators we should definitely be expected to affect change on a large scale with children due to the fact that they are our future. We train them up in the way they should go, so when they are old they won't depart from it. Not every child will follow this path, but educators spend more time with children than their own parents who trust us day in and day out to teach their children and look out for their wellbeing. Its the start to becoming a productive and contributing citizen to everyday life, it all starts with the educator. I plan to continue to coach and mentor the youth of wherever I may end up serving and after my career is done wherever I call home in the future. At the moment I’m unsure if I will join any organizations in relation to child development. I would like to be apart of some programs that help at risk youth and make a positive impact in the community. Two people that I would turn to for advice would be Mr. Talmadge Smart, which is a mentor of the Boys to Men club that I grew up in as a child and now a mentor of as well. Another person I would turn to for advice would be a great friend of mine Natalie Johnson who is the principal of the middle school in my hometown. I am already in frequent contact with them at least two to three times a month, so it would be nothing to reach out to them on a more consistent basis if need be. In the future I do plan to further my education as well in the child development field. I would eventually like to be a child diagnostician if possible and be able to get into the minds of children and know how they think. As of now I don’t have a mentor in the child development field that can help me in depth with my studies and plans. Hopefully in the near future I may find one or two that would be willing to take the time to coach and mentor me in the right direction of this career path.
