  Cindy Alcaraz is a I was part of Summer Medical and Dental Education Program at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, 2006. I learned a great deal from this program, and as a result, I became both motivated and passionate about medicine. My goal is to be a Cardiothoracic Surgeon and part of my motivation to this life's purpose is I have a heart for the minorities. The number one killer in America is cardiovascular disease. I want to fix people by repairing their hearts. Most minorities, like Latinos, do not know that diet is the sole cause for this debilitating disease. Hence, not only will I fix my patients, but also encourage them to have a healthy diet like organic foods. Hence, I want to fix people's hearts physically and spiritually. I am also a part of the Clinical Care Extender Pipeline Internship at Saint Mary Medical Center since November 2007. I have the privilege of gaining hands on care and have rotated into numerous departments like the Main Operating Room, Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room, Telemetry, Surgicenter, Labor and Delivery, NICU, and so many more! As a result of my love for this program, I am also part of Leadership Team. I am currently the Emergency Room Department Coordinator. In the past, I was the Operating Room Department Coordinator and the Quality Management Coordinator for Pod 3 (ER, OR, and ICU). Overall, I help my teammates make the internship be more successful than it already is by training the new interns.
