  Christoffer Olsson is a Currently working as a postdoc at the biomedical imaging division at KTH in Stockholm where I work on magneting resonance elastography (MRE) of the brain. In this project I work on correlating MRE data with various pathologies with the use of deep neural networks. I did my first postdoc at the department of health technology at DTU. There I was involved in two different projects where I modelled neuron stimulation by various methods. In one project I worked on modeling human cranial nerves and how these are affected by magnetic fields from transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). In the other project I modeled neruons in vitro, stimulated with electric impulses or optogenetically, as detected by a new type of magnetometer based on nitrogen vacancies in diamond. PreviousIy I did my PhD at the division of biological physics at Chalmers university of technology, where I studied fundamental mechanisms for protein stabilization. This project was aimed to improve methods of, for example, cryopreserving biological materials. More specifically, I investigated the structure and dynamics of protein solutions containing stabilizing sugars in different environments. The research was performed with the use of many different methods, mainly neutron scattering techniques, various computer modeling techniques, dielectric spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. My PhD position also included teaching, which I did as a laboratory assistant for an experimental project course in optics and in quantum physics for undergraduate students in physics at Chalmers. During my time as a PhD student I have learned how to handle scientific projects from start to finish, how to supervise teams and how to handle unforeseen problems. My most general speciality has become how to analyze experimental data with the use of computer modeling. I started my academic career by pursuing pure physics, but after obtaining my bachelor’s degree I had also developed an additional interest in biology, and thus decided to combine these two interest doing my masters and PhD within the field of biophysics. For my masters thesis I investigated brainwaves using a new magnetoencephalography-instrument available at Chalmers University of Technology. In my free time I mainly socialize with friends or engage in my own projects, such as building small robots or escape rooms. I also enjoy traveling, hiking, climbing, and reading. Currently, I am continuing my research at Chalmers, finishing up parts of my previous work while being open to new projects and opportunities.
