The sculptural form, especially the human body, has always been of particular interest and I am very excited that, although rather later in life than I would have wished, I have been able to concentrate on the form of art that really inspires me. I strive to show life and natural movement, however small, in all my work. I believe that portraits should not only capture a likeness but also the spirit and personality of each person. Since 2000, together with a number of limited edition sculptures, I have completed over 60 private and public commissions and was chosen as an Official Artist for the 2012 Olympics. Although my work is mainly traditional, working in clay for casting in bronze, I also work in steel for more contemporary pieces. Currently, I have been working on three public commissions of important female activists;, two suffragettes and one environmentalist. I feel strongly that women are not represented enough in public works of art and I hope to be able to help redress this balance.
