I went to work for Black & Veatch in Overland Park, KS out of school in their Power Generation group. Over my 14 years at Black & Veatch I worked on 10 green field power plant projects with escalating responsibility from Field Electrical Engineer, Schematics Lead, Lead Electrical, to PE managing the entire electrical and control design on my last 4 power plants. I worked on primarily domestic combined cycle plants with the exception of a hybrid fluidized bed coal plant in Thailand that I was lead EE on. I finished up my career at Black & Veatch in the Chief Engineers section as the Conceptual Design Manager with responsibilities that included project reviews, managing the electrical & control portions of new EPC power generation proposals, and updating company design standards and specifications. In 2004 I took the position of Sales Account Manager with Siemens. I cover all the electrical products that Siemens manufactures, from 120V panels to 500kV breakers & transformers to digital products that operate and optimize power flow on our grid. I cover the engineering firms that are based in the Kansas City area and support their remote offices as required. For the larger EPC firms, I focus on their Power Generation, T&D and Renewables divisions.
