Years later in the trucking industry this past experience opened the opportunity to be on the ground floor of the "hazmat" department for what would become FedEx Freight. As one of the first three members of the group, my role was operations and waste categorization. As a HAZWOPR trained worker I was responsible for cleanup operations at local facilities as well as roadside incidents while performinging waste inventory and classification at our site. With experience in RCRA regulations, DOT hazmat regulations, and waste shipments, I moved into a position providing oversight in a (management/coordinator) role. This increase in responsibilty covered the western US, Canada and Puerto Rico. My duties in that role were compliance, waste management, and oversight of off-site/on-site spills, releases, and incidents, as well as waste classification, profiling, and coordination of waste shipments. I was also responsible for all applicable reporting associated with spills, annual/biennial waste reporting, notifications/letters to the state, and overall compliance for waste. Current duties with PSC are compliance assistance, as well as reporting, business plans (HMBP), and notifications to applicable agencies. I also assist customers with post inspection assistance with return to compliance. I am also the manager of the Emergency Response Group providing solutions to emergency situations for our clients.
