Chiranjibi Chhotaray Email & Phone Number | I am doing research in infectious disease/pathogenesis more than 10 years. During my Ph.D., I have characterized some clofazimine resistance-associated genes in M. abscessus. Additionally, my research work was focused on studying the drug resistance mechanisms of both non-tuberculous mycobacteria and Mycobacterium tuberculosis and studying host-pathogen interaction. I have experienced testing drug activity against virulent mycobacteria in mice models. Besides, I was involved in the phenotypic and genotypic characterization of M. tuberculosis clinical isolates. My study also focused on the detection of methylation modification in the genome of M. abscessus. Besides my Ph.D. tenure, I was working as a research fellow for three years and six months in Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), Govt. of India where I was mainly involved in cloning, sequencing, and expression analysis of some important immune genes of the rohu carp (Labeo rohita). In addition, I was also focusing on studying the role of the immune genes of fish during bacterial infection. Moreover, I was also working on identification, characterization of bacteria, virus, and parasites from the infected fish. In addition, I was working on studying the immune response of fish during infection of virus, bacteria and parasites. I have contributed significantly towards the development of microsatellite markers and investigated their association with the resistance to Aeromonas hydrophila infection in rohu carp. My research was mainly focused on molecular genetics and immunology.
