  Cherri Tan is a I currently lead the APAC Technology Product Management team in S&P Global Ratings. My current focus is on ensuring our Risk and Regulatory obligations are met, especially in the area of Data Privacy and Localization. On top of my current role, I’m privileged to be part of the pioneer team to setup and open China’s first foreign Credit Rating Agency licensed to serve the domestic debt market. This required tight teamwork and coordination across geographical borders, functions and areas of expertise; not forgetting lots of passion and enthusiasm from individuals working towards a common goal. The experience has been exhilarating and leaves me wanting more. I’m also passionate about building talent in our APAC workforce. This is the reason why I took up the opportunity to launch and lead the “Asian Professional for Excellence” (APEX) group for the Singapore office, before taking on a Global Vice-President role. We develop programs that builds leadership competencies and increases professional development opportunities for our employees across all divisions. This is my way of giving back to the S&P Global community and the company who has invested in me over the last 7 years. In my free time, I keep fit with Les Mills RPM indoor cycling classes, and participate in at least a 5km (JP Morgan Run), a 10km run and a half-marathon every year. I also do the occasional lindy hop dancing in my living room. I enjoy travelling and exploring new places, learning about cultures, traditions and languages. In fact, I’m now learning Japanese and frustrating my sensei with the constant “Sumimasen, mou ichido” (I’m sorry, can you repeat?). My background and experience in academia, consulting, change management and program management shaped who I am today in my professional life and my perspectives.
