In 2016, as the adoption of IP technology started to become more defined with the introduction of ST2022 then later ST2110, Charley was approached by the National Football League to build a new facility that would be entirely IP based in Inglewood, California (“NFL LA”) With his unique experience and understanding of the underlying technologies, Charley has made himself an industry leader for the adoption of SMPTE ST2110. Under Bruce Goldfeder’s Engineering Team, Charley and Alan Wollenstein, both broadcast infrastructure architects, led the design of NFL LA – SMPTE ST2110 network fabric and broadcast devices. The NFL LA facility is a 450,000-sq-ft Class A building with 74,922 sq. ft of studio and studio-support space. It serves as the home for the NFL Network, NFL.com, NFL RedZone, the NFL app, and many other NFL Media departments. The facility is one of the largest SMPTE ST2110 facilities in the world capable of 4Kp60 Dolby 7.4.2 Audio, format agnostic, and able to scale to any format in the future; including HDR and 8K. Charley is a Bay Area native and UC Davis alumni.
